Are "ALL"
Alkaline Water
Ionizers a Scam...? The short answer is no. There are
numerous studies and publications supporting the health benefits of
antioxidant rich foods and beverages including alkaline ionized water.
Increasing the body's antioxidant levels has been linked in numerous
studies with higher energy levels, anti-aging effects and disease inhibiting properties
including fighting ulcers, arteriosclerosis, diabetes and even some
cancers.
However...
Often less than reputable field sales agents for ionized water
companies like Enagic Kangen make misleading or false claims about
ionized water benefits and/or exaggerate the quality and performance
of Kangen water ionizers relative to other leading brands.
That's where their attempt to scam you comes in. Consequently, we thought we should help consumers make an informed
choice by responding to several of the myths surround Kangen water
ionizers.
Obviously, we're not a
completely unbiased observer, we'd like nothing better than to sell
you one of our quality water ionizers, but we're not the ones running
the scam. We invite you to carefully
review the information below and check out our facts by visiting a few
other water ionizer review sites to confirm what we're telling you.
Then when you're satisfied, come back and make your purchase from
us!
Does Size Matter? Kangen representatives routinely tout the
relatively large size of their electroplates compared to other leading
brand water ionizers. They then argue by extension that the larger
size makes their electroplates more efficient and the reason their
machines cost more. The problem is, while it may seem logical on the
surface, the reality is far different...
The truth is that there
are really on two numbers that matter when accessing the effectiveness
and efficiency of a water ionizer. The first is the pH range,
i.e., what is the highest alkaline and acidic water level the unit is
able to generate. The second is Oxidation Reduction Potential (OPR).
Measured in millivolts (mV), OPR, is the tendency of and degree to
which drinking ionized water helps reduce oxidation in human cells.
Tap water, as well as other food and beverage items especially acidic
ones, with a positive OPR cause the body's cells to oxidize, i.e.,
deteriorate and age, more quickly. Whereas, alkaline water such as
that from water ionizers with a negative OPR help prevent and even
reverse cell oxidization, i.e., inhibit aging and promote better cell
and body health.
So let's see if Kangen's
claims about electroplate size translate to actual performance. Enagic
Kangen's best selling SD501 Water Ionizer has a total plate surface
area of 245 sq. in. and advertises it's pH range as 2.5 acidic to 11.0
alkaline and it's ORP range as from -550mV to +1200mV but injects
chemicals into the water to artificially expand both ranges.
By comparison, Air Water
Life's Aqua-Ionizer Deluxe 7.0, with a combined electroplate surface
area of 115 sq. in. has a pH range of 4.5 acidic to 11.0 alkaline and
an ORP range of -840mV to +1000mV. Based on the numbers that matter,
the Aqua-Ionizer Deluxe 7.0 matches the maximum alkaline pH level
produced by the Kangen machine and out performs it at both ends of the
ORP scale! Better yet, we do it with less than half the
combined surface area of the SD501 and without injecting
chemicals into the water to artificially inflate the pH and ORP ranges
the way Kangen does.
Kangen SD501 suggested
retail is $4,999. Suggested retail price for Air Water Life
Aqua-Ionizer Deluxe 7.0 is
$1,285. Kangen charges over $3,600 more
for a poorer performing water ionizer. Now that's what we call
an alkaline ionized water scam!
There's Solid Then There's Solid: Kangen sales agents often
refer to their water ionizers as using "solid" or "solid dipped"
electroplates apparently trying to imply that platinum and titanium
used by Kangen is somehow purer or better than that used by competing
companies. This is not only highly misleading, it's patently false and
part of the company's sales agents on going scam tactics.
Kangen uses essentially the same electroplate technology we use at Air
Water Life "solid' titanium coated with "solid" platinum.
Kangen representative also often uses the "solid" plate terminology to
try to distinguish their brand from other companies that use a mesh
type plate to artificially increase the surface area of their
electroplates. While we could argue the relative merits of solid vs.
mesh plates all day, the bottom lines is the same as when discussing
electroplate size... What matters far more than electroplate size and
construction, is objective performance based on the water ionizer's pH
and ORP range capabilities. And, sadly for Kangen, we've already
established that our leading water ionizer, the
Aqua-Ionizer Deluxe
7.0, matches or outperforms Kangen's SD501 on both these measures and
saves you, the consumer, over $3000, in the process.
The Micro-Clustering Myth:
Perhaps Kangen's most blatant ionized water scam is the fact that the
company's representatives and
publications regularly make extravagant claims to potential customers
regarding what the company calls "micro-clustered" water
implying that their water ionizers are the only ones that offer this.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
As a result of electrolysis, normal tap water molecules which usually
adhere to each other in groups of 10 or more molecules are broken down
into smaller groups of 5 or 6 molecules as part of the ionized water
process. Micro-Clustering is simply a
made up term by Kangen to describe what happens when electrolysis is
applied to water. Whatever you call it, all water ionizers including
Air Water Life use essentially the exact same electrolysis
process as Kangen, i.e., electroplates, to create ionized water.
So, while we don't use the term "micro-clustering," if this phenomenon
occurs in the Kangen machine, it occurs in ours, and every other water
ionizer on the market. But, whatever you call it, it cost up to $4000
less to achieve it with an Air Water Life water ionizer as it does
with the almost $5,000 Kangen SD501 water ionizer.
Multi-Layer Marketing Mayhem: So far we've a) Established Kangen water ionizer plate size and construction doesn't really
matter; b) Confirmed so-called "micro-clustering" is just a fancy,
made-up term for the effect that all water ionizers have on tap water;
and c) Shown that Air Water Life water ionizers match or exceed the pH
and ORP performance ranges of Kangen's best selling ionized water units. So,
obviously, in Kangen's case, more expensive definitely does NOT mean
better and, if their sales agents try to convince you otherwise, it's
just part of their on going ionized water scam. The question you're probably asking yourself as an informed
consumer then is, "Why in the world does Kangen charge so much
for its water ionizer?"
The answer, regrettably,
is that the exorbitant price of Kangen water ionizers has a lot more
to do with the way they're marketed and sold than it does with their
quality. Kangen water ionizers are sold in multi-level marketing
approach that injects dozens of middle men into the process
all trying to collect as much money as possible from the next person
down the line. Our Air Water Life water ionizers by contrast are
produced to our exacting standards in our state-of-the-art Chinese
factory, shipped directly to our U.S. headquarters and sold directly
to consumers live on the internet or through local retailers,
Consequently, unlike with the Enagic Kangen machines, there aren't
dozens of middlemen and millions of dollars spent on multi-level
marketing promotions jacking up the price of our water ionizers.
The Bottom Line: Drinking alkaline ionized water from a
quality water ionizer, as with other antioxidant rich foods and
beverages, provides valuable health benefits and even saves you money
on expensive bottled waters many of which are worse or no better for
you than tap water. However, you should not have to pay an arm a leg for
those benefits. The choice is simple... get scammed into paying
almost $5,000 for a Kangen water ionizer or save yourself nearly
$4,000 and get an Air Water Life water ionizer that matches or exceeds
Kangen's performance standards across the board for $900 to $1,300.
